Migori county government is set to meet with doctors on Monday to avert a looming strike by the medics and health crisis.
The Nyanza Kenya Medical Practitioners Pharmacists and Dentists Union on Friday issued a 14-day through branch secretary Omweri Lameck Gisairo over breach of Collective Bargain Agreement implementation.
“This is because of lack of commitment and willingness on the part of the county government of Migori as the employer to resolve the above issues,” the letter read.
But county secretary Christopher Rusana confirmed to Migori News that they will have talked with the union on Monday.
County executive Isca Oluoch said the threat was unnecessary and dialogue was the best way to end the impasse.
“The threat is unfounded, they should first seek dialogue because as a county we are surprised by their move since we have never met any of them, we are not even aware,” Oluoch said.
The union’s branch chairperson, Kevin Osuri said they are ready to down their tools when the deadline lapses.
