Migori speaker vows to unite house after repeat vote

Migori speaker Boaz Okoth has said he is working towards bringing together Members of County Assembly for the development of County.

This is two weeks after Okoth was voted in to retain his position that had been nullified following his controversial election last year.

Speaking in Migori town, Okoth who was elected by 39 votes against 16 votes said the assembly was more united to deliver services to the electorates.

“All the MCA’s are united towards working together to bringing development in the county government,” Okoth said.

To realise its goals of developing the county, the former North Kadem MCA said the county assembly had lined up seven bills for consideration.

They are Cooperative Bill 2016, Public participation Bill 2016, Public Service Board Bill 2016 and Migori County roads bill 2014.

Others are the Migori County Tobacco Control bill, Migori County flag, emblems and names bill and Migori County Audit Bill.

Okoth said the County Assembly had also passed other 12 bills in the previous assembly.

The Bills are:

  1. Migori County Trade Development Credit Scheme Bill 2016.
  2. The Migori County Trade and Marketing Bill, 2014.
  3. The Migori County Audit bill, 2014.
  4. The Migori county Service Bill
  5. Migori County Fisheries & Aquaculture Bill 2016.
  6. The Migori County Trade and Licensing Bill
  7. The Migori County Provision of Collection of Revenue Bill.
  8. The Migori County Tax Waiver bill
  9. The Migori County Assembly Powers and Privileges Bill
  10. The Migori County Alcohol Drinks Bill
  11. Migori County Car Loan and Mortgage (Amendment) bill 2014
  12. The Migori County Wards Development Fund Act
