The Migori senate seat in August 8 polls should be left for youths who have declared interst, aspirant Billy Mijungu has said.

Speaking to the press in Migori town, Mijungu said youths in the seat will help unseat the old generation of the political class from the helm.

Mijungu said the seat currently held by Dr. Wilfred Machage who will vie for Kuria West seat should be et for younger blood.

“Technically the governor seat is left for older politicians while the Women Representative seat is for women, which makes senator to fall for youths,” Mijungu said.

He added: “Youths including myself have come to the fore to aspire for the seat that they feel did not benefit the residents of Migori County in the last five years since the advent of the devolved system of Government.”

He said he will officially launched his bid at the end of April as the incumbent has not done well its oversight role on the county executive.

He vowed to push the agenda of the county and play the oversight roles to make sure that the county performs its duties of serving the residents well.

The aspirant will vie as an independent candidate for the senate seat under the umbrella of the National Super Alliance, NASA in the General elections come August 2017.
