Member of Migori county transport SACCO are crying foul of the interference from the touts in major towns in the county.
They said touts are demanding Sh200 from every public service vehicle operating at the main bus stages.
The Sacco chairman Samuel Ochola said they are losing a lot of money to the touts as no action is taken against them.
“The touts have gone to an extent of denying us the opportunity to collect members’ contributions yet we are registered and we pay taxes to both national and county governments,” Ochola told Migori News.
Ochola said they are not able to do their business because the business environment is unfavorable .
He has appealed to the county government of Migori and other relevant bodies to help in bringing sanity to the industry.
Migori County trade director Donald Jaleny said he is not aware of the association of touts soliciting money from the Matatu operators.
He said the ministry is going to work with police to investigate the matter.
