A sixty year old man by the name Rioba Mwita and his middle-aged son,Nkori Rioba are alleged to have hacked and killed their nephew following land conflict among them in Kionyo village,Kuria East constituency in Migori county yesterday.

Mr.Rioba Mwita and Nkori Rioba are alleged to have attacked Joseph Marwa Gisima(deceased),hacked and forced him to death using a sharp panga and a spear.

According to the eye-witness,Nyambata Kibwana said Mr.Rioba Mwita and his son attacked the deceased while he(deceased) was busy slashing some vegetation to allow him create clear path towards his homestead following this season’s circumcision ceremony which is expected to begin by next week.

He added that Joseph Marwa(the deceased) was hacked over the shoulder by Mr.Rioba Mwita using a sharp panga,which scared the deceased forcing him to run for his precious life where he later met his death after the murderer’s son directly pointed a spear on him leaving him completely dead on the ground.

‘’After the two had completed their brutal mission,they escaped to unknown hidings which is said to be in some parts of Tanzania.’’He continued narrating to Migori News.

However,its said that Mr.Rioba Mwita is already in police custody and his son is also yet to be recovered from his hiding by the area chief in partnership with police officers.

When the media approached the the area chief Mr.Mwita Busara over the accusations,he was unable to speak due to unknown embarrassment.

Finally the area chief spoke to us,’’This very land has caused alot of conflicts for quite sometime.Mr.Rioba Mwita(murderer)was never satisfied with the portion that he was given by his father until he has now ended up killing his brother’s son because of land.’’The area chief said.

On the other hand,the deceased father,Mr.Robert Gisima Getango was forced to talk to KNA about his son’s sudden death.

‘’Its with great sorrow to suddenly lose my son over family land conflict.The portion which sincerely belongs to me and i was given by my father.My father married three wives and when he was about to die,he divided the land into three portions for every three houses that he had.The house that has killed my son was never satisfied with his portion.Thats why he has been conflicting with my family over this portion all along.’’Mr.Robert Gisima Getango narrated these sorrowfully as tears rolled down his cheeks.

The deceased father was forced to show out his title deed to the chief which revealed his legal procession of the land.

The body has already been transferred to Pastor Machage Mortuary in Migori town,awaiting for post moterm test.
