All roads are leading to Bondo Nyironge center today as a section of elders from the Suna clan are planning to endorse governor Okoth Obado for a second term.

The elders will be drawn from Suna East and Suna West constituencies will take an oath under the traditional Ong’oro tree.

The elders are pushed by former governor aspirant Owiso Ngao and MCAS Ochieng Abwao (God Jope), George Ombori (Suna Central), Odoyo Odara (Kwa) and Joe Gucha (Kakrao).

“We have sat down as a clan and agreed that whoever wants to vie for governor from the two sub-counties will wait until 2022 where Obado will support one of our own for the race,” Ngao said.

Ngao and Migori County Secretary Christopher Rusana, both allies of Obado, plan to vie in 2022.
Abwao said the ceremony is because Obado’s wife Helen is from the clan.

But from Suna area Prof Edward Oyugi, who vied in last polls and Suna East politician Peter Jobando may end up in the ballot with Obado.

Jobando told Migori News that the event is a money minting function for elders keen on getting allowances from the governor.

“Those busy bodies should just collect their allowances, Suna East and Suna West have other clans and communities who can’t take part in the event,” Jobando said.

He said if Obado was to be endorsed on his development record then he would just resign instead of being endorsed.
Migori Ford Kenya chairman Samuel Migore, who is from Suna clan, said not all leaders were called on the matter.

Migore said some clan elders only knew of the event on social media.
