The government has not released free primary and secondary education funds forcing suspension of crucial programs at time teachers needs ample time to prepare candidates for the national exams scheduled to begin next month.
Hundreds of primary and secondary teachers on tuesday thronged the Rongo KNUT branch offices to express dis appointment over delay of the funds release.
They complained that they may not be able to cover revision in time due to lack of money to purchase all that required by the learners.
The Rongo branch KNUT executive Secretary Thomas Ochiel Awino while addressing teachers, asked the3 government to release funds immediately without further delay as candidates are expected to perform well in their exams.
He blamed the Jubilee government over failure to honour pre-election pledges to ensure quality education in the country.
Learners were lucking exercise books in schools and teachers have no writing materials like chalks forcing to adopt dictation which is not recommended by education act.
“we wonder if the government is serious in ensuring provision of quality education when some leaders in senior positions were diverting funds meant for promotin quality education in personal projects, how does government expect good results when some of its employee were sabotaging crucial programs at this time of the year, Awino added
He appealed to government to ensure release of that funds before Friday this weeks to enable teacherts offer revision in time as expected of them
