Elders from Nyatike on Friday coroneted Governor Obado as an elder in a colorful ceremony held on Friday at Wath Ong’er sports ground.
Obado was adorning by traditional regalia and officially making him an elder in Nyatike just a day after aspirant Anne Omodho Anyanga was installed at the same venue (READ THE STORY HERE)
“Thank you for the honour you have bestowed on me today, and just like is expected of any elder, I will foster peace, steer development and I will not ail you” he told the elders.
The Vice Chair of Nyatike Luo Council of elders, Margaret Akong’o who spoke on behalf of the ailing Chair said they felt it wise to make Obado by virtue of being the County CEO, an elder.
She however clarified that the coronation was not an endorsement and that they work with all leaders.
“Our work is unify the people and so this has got nothing to do with him seeking re-election,” she said.
Also present were representatives of the Kuria elders who came to show solidarity with the incumbent.
Others present during the ceremony include a renowned elder in South Nyanza Aketch Chieng, Nairobi ODM chairperson George Aladwa, Okoa Kenya enthusiast Makamu wa Makamu, Nyatike parliamentary aspirant Tom Odege and other local leaders.
