An aspirant for the Migori County Governorship seat 2017 elections, Mr. Paul Odola has pleaded for peaceful campaigns throughout the electioneering period due next year.
Mr. Odola expressed concern over manner some politicians were conducting campaigns engaging in provoking opponents and inciting already intoxicated youths to attack, hurl abuse and throw stones at them(rivals) whom they get scared of due to massive support they receive from voters.
The former Managing Director of the Awendo based sugar factory Sony cautioned other contestants not to engage in utterances that may ignite chaos but promote peace for co-existence since Migori is a cosmopolitan county where interest of residents need to be considered and get equal attention for quick realization of economic progress.
Mr. Odola who is now the General Manager of Specter international said he will encourage and promote co-existence among residents warning politicians planning chaos during elections to drop the idea of face wrath of the electorates as voters expect peace to prevail throughout the period.
The aspirant noted that the County was blessed with resources that require adequate funding for operation to offer employment to school leavers and that it need technocrats to offer skills of making the County to shine internationally on development issues.
He said if voting is done fairly in next year’s general elections, no County in the entire country will be compared to Migori, as its products will attract international attention and will be considered fair market competition internationally.
Addressing the Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) faithful at the Rongo West Spring church on Saturday to consider voting progressive leaders who will take their interest at heart and ensure the County realizes fast economic progress to compete other developed areas favorably economically.
Mr. Odola is considered to be the best for the gubernatorial seat among others contestants who have shown interest of vying for that position.
Some of his rivals are scared of his popularity and planning to cause chaos during elections but urged his supporters to remain calm and not revenge in hurling abuse at their opponents, Odola added
He challenged his rivals to refrain supporters from utterances that may provoke animosity and cause tension among voters.
Majority of voters have expressed confidence in Odola’s managerial skill as during his tenure, Sony made profit since inception and was considered for ISO exemplary performance.
Odola has promised to make Migori appear in international Map on economic issues and will ensure provision of viable sustainable economic activities when he will be considered for that position.
