Police at Uriri Police Station are holding a doctor from Bware clinic who is suspected for stealing medicine worth about Sh10,000.

The mainly malaria drugs were impounded together with a Tanzania vehicle number plate making police suspect they were headed for a neighbouring country.

The medic has only been known as Mogire and was stopped by the facility watchman.
Migori health chief officer Dalmas Onyango confirmed the arrest.

“He claimed he was taking the drugs to the nearby Kamsaki dispensary but when we took him there we found he was lying,” Onyango said.

He they acted after patients complained they have been forced to buy medicine from private clinics in the area as the facility always lacked drugs.

“We have been stocking the clinic and the case shows where the problem is always,” he said.
