The Migori County Government today flagged off teams that will participate in clean up exercise of major towns in the region as assure way of preventing air and waterborne diseases in densely populated areas in the towns and environs.
Flagging off the exercise in Rongo town,the chief officer in charge of Environment, Natural Resources and disaster management Mrs.Roseline Otieno said clean environment will stem escalating cases of insecurity in parts of the County.
She said clean up exercise was a noble course that will attract potential investors who will eventually create employments and address idleness among many youths who will have to engage themselves in viable and sustainable economic activities to earn a living for their families.
Mrs. Otieno also announced that the County government is on the process of ensuring provision of modern toilets in all major towns to cope up with ever increasing demand for relevant facilities in parts of the County.
She thanked stakeholders for remaining supportive to the County government effort in ensuring its initiatives meet international standards and taken care of well.
Many towns in the county are choking in dumpsites which are an eye sore due to poor police of solid waste management.
