A Mpesa agent was shot dead in Migori town hours after depositing half a million for a client.
According to police reports, the 48-year-old businesswoman who was attacked by armed assailants in Migori town Salah area shortly after closing her M-Pesa shop on Thursday night.

According to the area Assistant Chief, George Oketch, Mungare had closed her shop at around 7:50 p.m. after depositing Shs500,000 from a client.
She boarded a motorcycle together with her daughter but on reaching Sala area along the Migori–Kisii Road, the two alighted about 50 metres from their rented house.
“While walking home, they were accosted by two masked men who ordered them to surrender their belongings,” police said..
The daughter raised alarm and ran away, while the attackers shot the victim prompting the assailants to open fire on her right ankle, left wrist, and left side of the chin.
The criminals stole her handbag, which contained a Safaricom M-Pesa phone and a flask, before fleeing in an unknown direction
She died at Migori County Referral Hospital where she was receiving treatment.
Her body has been moved to a mortuary in the same hospital awaiting post mortem report.
Police have launched investigations into the incident.
