Kisumu Governor Prof.Anyang’ Nyong’o has called on all the relevant state entities charged with the responsibility of enhancing national Cohesion as well as building peace and stability in Kenya to move fast with speed and take action on Nyeri Governor Kahiga Mutahi.
“Action taken on him will stop reoeat of such recklessness in our motherland which has taken some of us years ,sweat and blood tontry and mould,” he said.
He at the same tome condemned in the strongest terms statement by Nyeri Governor Mutahi Kahiga’s irresponsible comments following the passing on of the late Rt.Hon.Raila Odinga.
“The statement attributed to Kahiga whether made in jest or with a political intention is utterly irresponsible ,deeply disrespectful, and a dangerous recipe for provocation,” he said in a press release.
Nyong’o added that Kahiga’s statement is a clear indication of a serious lapse of judgement and extreme abuse of the Office he is elected to sit in and as leader he should hold himself to higher standards and stand talk to uphold dignity, promote peace and harness respect among Kenyans regardless of their class ,creed or tribe not to mention their political affiliation.
Nyong’o further said that as a member of the Council of Governors, where he sits as a Vice Chairperson ,he deeply feels embarrassed, and there is a need for Mutahi’s unequivocal apology
“Our democracy cannot grow in a space where people entrusted with leadership positions take cohesion and national stability for granted by uttering such talk in the guise of political statements”Nyong’o added.
