As national debater EDDY is good, but gauging him at grassroot level he is poor, not fit as senator- BILLY MIJUNGU

Migori senate aspirant Billy Mijungu has gauge the incumbent as a very good debater in the house and has national representation, but performing poorly on the ground.

Speaking to the press over the phone, Mijungu said Eddy Oketch who was elected on his maiden term on Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) ticket in last polls should not be elected back in office by voters because he is not an all round leader.

“I vied against Eddy in last polls and i have given him time to perform, i will still give him time so that he doesn’t say we are harassing him but so far he is not worth being re-elected,” Mijungu said.

Mijungu said the only thing he can laud Eddy for is being a good debater in parliament and having a national representation for people of Migori, but said as a grass root leader the senator is very poor.

At the end of last year, a study by Timey Kenya ranked Eddy among his counterparts for being top debators in the senate.

He was ranked alongside Samson Cherargai (Nand), Moses Kajwang (Homa Bay), Enoch Wambua (Kitui), Boni Khalwale (Kakamega) and Godfrey Osotsi(Vihiga) to close the top five slot.

“But on the ground as the governor (Ochillo Ayacko) joked he may just seek re-election even for doing nothing,” Mijungu said.

He said Eddy recently launched a university in his village which has never been built and a police station at Miruya, his home village which is a function of the national government and not his office.

“But on the ground his performance on social mobilisation, county engagement and presence, and accessibility to voters and fellow leaders is poor,” Mijungu said.

He said by firing four staff he picked over from election in his office shows poor management skills and relations to others.

“He is poor reflection on personal management over his staff relations, we are giving him time but soon we will come with these claims to the people,” he said.

He said a senator should be an all round figure, which Eddy lacks.
