Former Migori woman representative Dennitah Ghati interest for the county senate seat is a ploy to get nomination from the Orange Democratic Movement, a rival has said.
In December, Ghati who is also a former nominated MP representing people living with disability said she as officially declared to unseat the incumbent Eddy Oketch in the 2027 general elections.
“Ghati looking for this seat is her constitutional right as a voter and a Kenya, but looking for this seat after moving through several others is part of her bigger plot to get nominated back into leadership,” Billy Mijungu said.
Mijungu who has vied twice as a senator in Migori said Ghati and Eddy will still meet him on the same ballot since “my votes was not enough then, but now i am ready to bring the seat home.”
Speaking to the press over the phone, Mijungu said Ghati as a former Women Representative then getting a nomination slot in parliament after being floored at the polls should make her stick to the lower house.
In last polls, Ghati was floored after clinching the ODM ticket in primaries by the current woman representative Fatuma Mohammed on an independent ticket.
“She is really flip flopping politically, but she is back looking for a nomination slot in the senate since in ODM and among us in Luo Nyanza only Migori is a region which has never gotten this slot which Ghati wants to gamble with,” he said.
Mijungu said he wish Ghati luck in her nomination drive and more luck when they face each other in the campaign trail.
