Over 3,000 needy students in Suna West constituency have benefitted from Sh22million bursary from NG-CDF.
On Sunday, area MP Peter Masara distributed the bursary to the students in Wiga, Wasimbete, Wasweta and Ragana Oruba wards.
The beneficiaries will cut across high school, universities and colleges with the least beneficiary getting Sh10,000 and those with special cases like sponsored students getting Sh20,000.
“For the last two weeks we have been burning the midnight oil to ensure the bursary cheques are out because most schools were suffering capitation because most schools were not functioning,” Masara said.
He said in the last 2024 secondary school education nationally, Suna West school performed well.
“We want to thank the children, parents and teachers for the impressive Suna West results, apart from St Peter’s Abwao whose results were withheld, and hopefully will be released, we did well,” Masara said.
The legilsator said parents and students have been encouraged to ensure all students progress with their education despite the results they have got.
He said the Suna West NG-CDF has been allocated over Sh40m for bursary for the entire year and more sill be issued in September and May especially for students joining colleges.
Masara said they target 200 boda boda riders and drivers to help them get driving licenses in addition to paying Sh4million to help those who are needy and vulnerable in Suna West to get Social Health Authority (SHA) insurance cover.
