Awendo MP Walter issues bursaries, fully sponsored to about 500 students in Secondary, College, and Awendo KMTC

More than 500 needy students received scholarship funds as schools reopened for first term in Awendo Constituency Migori County.

Yesterday area Member of Parliament for Awendo Walter Owino issued cheques totalling KSh 5.7 million for fully sponsored secondary school students and KSh 1.04 million for students at the Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC).

The NG-CDF manager, Mr Janes Majengo, confirmed the disbursements.” The remaining bursary payments will be processed by the end of next week,” said Owino.

This comes as schools reopen for the first term.Speaking at the issuance of cheques by the NGCDF bursary committee, led by Augustine Wasonga, several applicants expressed their gratitude for being awarded scholarships.

The MP stated that the funds have already been released, emphasizing the importance of assisting students in a timely manner.

In the meantime, over 1,000 bursary applications from bright and needy students are being processed.

“These additional bursaries will be distributed within the next week,” said Owino.

The MP urged parents to be patient as the vetting process continues to ensure that only the true beneficiaries receive the support.

Owino spoke as the ngcdf bursary committee led by Augustine Wasonga issued the cheques to beneficiaries at Awendo NGCDF offices.

Several applicants were happy that everyone who applied for the money was given. Ken Otieno and Mary Odhiambo thanked the MP for his generosity.

“We got a full scholarship of Sh20,000. The whole of this terms fees,” said Odhiambo.

Many parents echoed similar sentiments urging the MP to maintain his support. Owino assured them of periodic academic support each year where resources are available.

The MP encouraged parents to remain patient during the ongoing vetting process, emphasizing the importance of ensuring that only the rightful beneficiaries receive support.
