Kenyans are facing the current Christmas and festive seasons after a year full of challenges, Bishop John Okinda has said.
Okinda, the presiding bishop and leader of PEFA churches in Kenya said 2024 was a challenging year for the country.
He said the violent demonstrations to bring change in the country through ending corruption and improving economy summed 2024.
“From the church we say merry Christmas and fun filled festive season although Kenyans faced a difficult economy,” he said.
“Despite this we should reach those who have little in the society and remember we have fees to pay next year,” Okinda said.
He said the economy has shrunk and there is no money in circulation.
The bishop challenged President William Ruto to being hope next year to the country and improve more on the economy and corruption.
“Government should pull up their socks it has been a challenging year and the Gen Z demonstrations was a wake up call,” he said.
He said the president should work more to free the government from corruption and better economy.
“To achieve this we need to tone down on political temperatures in all seat because in some counties a campaign mood has already been set,” he said.
“Leaders should improve their mandate on Kenyans through development because the mood placed as if elections are round the corner is bad he said.
