The Orange Democratic Movement party has been urged to disparage list from the last grassroot elections in Rongo constituency because of violence, intimidation and lack of democracy.
A group of five Rongo MP aspirants calling themselves ‘Rongo Broad Based Alternative Voice’ said two parallel lists by the incumbent Paul Abuor and another aspirant Nelson Adoko should be thrown out from the party.
“We documented violence before elections, our opponents sensed defeated and started intimidation before the actual date,” Thomas Kwanga, an aspirant told Nyanza News.
Kwanga, who hails from South Kamagambo ward said the alternative voice brought others together like Caleb ‘Janabi’ Oguta from Central Kamagambo, Michael Omboga from East Kamagambo and Nelson Oluoch from North Kamagambo.
“For the past two week I personally hired vehicles to sensitize voters in all Rongo four wards and I believe we registered over half of new members who took part in the voting,” Kwanga said.
He said their team was sure of winning the elections and the two, Abuor and Adoko, were shocked and resorted to violence.
“We will official seek redress with the party to have Abuor and Adoko’s list quashed because we will never allow them to demoralise members,” Kwanga said.
He said the two are part of wider scheme to weaken the ODM party as leader Raila Odinga is headed for African Union.
“We cant allow Adoko and Abuor to control Rongo, they are only two against us five and they brought violence and claimed they each won which is false,” he said.
