Kericho Governor Eric Mutai has been impeached by the County Assembly in a session he skipped.

Mutai was impeached after 31 members voted n favor of the motion introduced by Sigowet Ward MCA Kiprotich Rogony

The impeachment stems from allegations of gross constitutional violations, abuse of office, and misuse of public resources.

It also included a witness who accused the governor of having unnatural sex which included anal sex and coercion without protection.

Rogony has accused the governor of several serious offenses, including leading a mob to seize private land in Kericho town for use as an unapproved dumpsite and coercing women into inappropriate sexual acts.

Mutai was expected at the assembly after trying to seek redress through the ruling party United Democratic Alliance (UDA) and seeking a court order to stop the process.

MCAs said an order from court did not reach them on time and they chose to proceed with the motion.

Mutai instead sent a legal team led by Katwa Kigen.

Kigen is expected to defend Mutai at the senate.
