A Migori county MCA was injured alongside two police officers as chaos erupted on Saturday at a gold mine.
Violent chaos erupted as angry youths fought when Migori governor Ochillo Ayacko had a function with miners at the old Macalder Copper and Gold mines in Nyatike sub-county.
Area Macalder Kanyarwanda MCA Felix Okwanyo was hurt, two police officers and three miners were also hurt and treated at Macalder hospital.
More than a dozen others were also hurt in the melee.
Several vehicles were vandalised including one which was completely burnt by youths.
Tension is still high at the mines.
