Treasury Cabinet Secretary John Mbadi has used the recent China-Africa summit in Beijing to push completion of a bad road that has been a thorn on the flesh of users in Migori-Homa Bay counties.
Mbadi cleared the way to resolve all pending bills owed to the Chinese road construction company, which will ensure work on the road is cleared.
Weeks ago during his visit to Nyanza, President William Ruto’s directed Mbadi to avail funds and oversee the seamless completion of the road.
Mbadi held talks with with Guo Chonfeng the Vice President of China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC) at their headquarters Beijing, China over the possibility of work resumption on the Ksh2.83billion valued 74KM Mbita-Sindo-Magunga-Sori road.
The move will see resumption of the project and the contractor is expected to resume work in a week time none-stop for a period between 18-24 months to complete the road.

The road is expected to pave way for tapping on natural resources in the area which include Ruma National Park – the home of roan antelope and meticulously spotted breathtaking giraffes, oscillating Kaksingri and Gwassi hills housing the famous Kiboye shrine, fresh water springs, the mystery Nyamgondho of Nyandiwa, the globally demanded Nile perch for bladder from Lake Victoria as well as the agricultural produce.
The road has been used as a campaign tool for leaders in Migori and Homa Bay counties and its completion will help residents who had suffered from its sluggish progress.
