Migori senator Eddy Oketch has claimed the impeachment of Meru governor Kawira Mwangaza by the senate was not done procedrurally.
He said what happened at Mwangaza Impeachment “is unfortunate.”
“Simply put, it was a travesty of justice and a tragedy of reputation to the Senate,” Oketch said in a Facebook post.
He said the process was done amid pending court matters and charges Senate had pronounced itself on before.
He due process like debates allowed before voting was not done
He said the voting and the process was done on the behest of the national government where “the big man had made the big phone call.”
“She was impeached purely on KK Party position,” he added.
He said charges against the embattled governor were flimsy and never met the threshold of impeachment.
“If we allow such to prevail, it will set a very dangerous precedent for political witchcraft and witch hunt,” he warned.
“The problems of patriarchal politics in Meru can better be solved by invoking article 192 of the constitution and call Meru leaders to order,” he added. .
He said the impeachment can be thrashed in court and the biggest losers will be Meru county residents.
“The people of Meru will continue facing the same fights without ever getting the services they need,” he said.

Let Kawira dissolve the whole county government and seek new mandate. Why should the opposition stand with Kawira if the sponsoring party is dissatisfied? What do they stand to fain?
