In the 2022 general elections Kisumu county voters elected 34 Members of County Assembly (MCA) and only one, the Oliver Bill from Kobura ward sailed through an independent ticket.
This ensured that the popular party had to sweep through will all 12 nomination slots in the assembly.
Kisumu is one of the 6 counties in the former Nyanza Province which will receive special coverage from Nyanza News.
The role of a nominated MCA in Kenya is the same as that of an elected Member of the County Assembly. MCAs are involved in legislation, representation, and oversight of the county governments.
