Migori governor aspirant Robert Okong’o ‘Ja Migori’ has said he will wait for Azimio la Umoja nomination rules before picking his party for August 9 general elections.

Okong’o said while Migori falls under Orange Democratic Movement, one of the main parties in Azimio la Umoja coalition, the talks of zoning regions in nominations have left him to take time before he picks his party.

“I am still waiting to see the agreement on if parties will have competitive nominations or if the region will be zoned before announcing my bid, from there i will pick my vehicle but the bottom line is that i will be in the ballot as the candidate for governor,” Okong’o said.

He said he will pick a party when there is a chance for a competitive nominations, but “the power to decide on leadership is vested on people at the ballot, it these people who i will interact with directly.”

He said democracy stands to gain for voters when the parties and systems to pick a candidate should be competitive enough.

“We are still in the dark on which mode of nominations will be used, we hear talks of endorsements, delegates, consensus, zoning and hand picking until we are done we will pick a party,” he said.

Speaking to Migori News, Okong’o said he decided to vie as a governor because his rivals still lacks leadership and development gaps.

“We have rivals who have been in leadership for very long aas other ivals have been around fr a long time while we don’t have track recordRKO foundation will help in starting football tournaments and i have helped education in paying fees and make a difference in life of people
