Migori principal Finance officer Evans Ogutu has said he was shocked when he received a calls that thugs broke inside his office and was more perturbed in court when he saw Speaker Boaz Okoth.
“I only identified the speaker, i still do not know the other seven people he was accused with and i only saw them in court on Thursday for the first time,” Ogutu said.
He was speaking outside Migori High Court after Okoth and seven others took plea over the break in.
He said he was in Nairobi for official duties when the call in came.
“We pray that justice takes its course, as an office we take safe custody of all financial records both physically and electronically for reference to auditors and government bodies and to be availed at any given time,” Ogutu said.
He said his working relationship with Okoth was purely on “functional and administraive” nurture and despite rumours of tension between them he has never received any complaint or warning as required for any employee.
“The finance officer only keep safe custody of all financial statements both physically and electronically for further access by auditors, EACC and other government agencies,” Ogutu said.
