Migori county senator seat will for the first time got youthful candidates, all political greenhorns, as the incumbent Ochillo Ayacko plans for governor seat eight months to general elections.

All six youthful aspirants, all aged below 40, have never been elected in any serious seat and seek to be the next fourth senator.

“I have not been elected anywhere in my life apart from positions in learning institutions,” Victor Okuna, 30, said saying he learnt of oversight during a short professional instinct at Safaricom.

Okuna, an electrical engineer by profession, hails from God Jope ward in Suna East constituency, same constituency like Holly Okwama, 38, an advocate from Suna Central ward.

Kenneth Okech, 33, a political science lecturer from Kanyasa Ward in Nyatike constituency said this time the senator seat should be left for youths as older politicians and women have set their eyes on governor and woman representative seat respectively.

“We want the next Migori senator to be a youth and the party will never use the seat as a fallout plan for senior politicians who fail in governor seat,” Okech said.
