The Kenya Young Parliamentarians Association (KYPA) has launched a youth driven climate change agenda in the national limelight in eight counties.
KYPA’s Program Officer said the programme will run in Mandera, Migori, Baringo, Nairobi, Makueni, Lamu, Mombasa and Busia counties.
“We have a gap of changing the discourse on climate change as most youths, who form the most active role in reversing the trend have been left out,” Wambura told Migori News.
He was speaking at Nyanchabo PEFA Church, in Masaba ward-Kuria West constituency when the Migori chapter sensitization forum was launch.
The forum attracted representatives from churches, youths, chiefs and opinion leaders from across the county.
“Once we are done with collecting the views of youths, we will help draft a policy and legislative action which will form part of parliament and country’s agenda on climate change,” Wambura said.
His sentiments was shared by area MCA Abed Maroa who said it was important to enlighten youths on issues of climate change.

“This forum has been an eye opener, currently climate change is a global discussion and us as developing countries we take the biggest burden which is affecting us and we need the conversation to be done in rural areas,” Maroa said.
He said with funding to mitigate againsts effects on climate change, youths should be in the forefront.
Rebecca Ghati Maroa, the Migori county environment executive said the county already has a policy on climate change, environment conservation, climate change funding among others.
“It is a responsibility of all Kenyans to conservce the environment, and youths should never be left out,” Maroa said.
