The Rongo University has been nominated to be the chair of the East African ICT Hub and has hopes it will be a Regional ICT Hub by September.
This was after representatives from Ghana and Rwanda visited the institution with an aim of accessing its status for education collaborative to interact with universities across the East African region.
The Vice Chancellor Samuel Gudu noted that in the last three days, they have been looking at how they can form education collaborative which is focusing more on student employability, entrepreneurship and leadership aimed at producing students who are good leaders.
“We will focus more on training our students towards leadership, employability and entrepreneurial activities,” said Prof. Gudu.
According to the Vice Chancellor, the institution has embraced IT courses as part of its degree courses they are offering will be sharing research, findings and have staff and student exchange programs.
Chair of Rongo University Council Rachel Masake noted that the institution was being considered to be the first Hub for the East African institutions.
“We believe through these interactions our students will have a few more things that will make them more marketable,” Masake stated.
