Kadem villagers slaughtered cattle, shared meat and divided chicken among themselves at the home os a suspect who murdered his 90 years old neighbour.
North East Kadem Chief John Akal said villagers invaded the home of Okinyi Anyanga, burnt it down and ensure there was no living thing left behind it on Sunday evning.
Anyanga had taken his wife and disappeared after the death of his neighbour Ezra Polo, 90, was pronounced dead at Sori Lakeside Hospital after succumbing to panga wounds.
Polo’s cows had grazed at Anyanga’s compound when the deceased grand-son was taking care of them.
“The grandson called Polo to pick the cows, and their altercation scaled up into a fight which ended up tragically into a panga fight,” he said.
The administrator said the two neighbours had longstanding problem over the grazing of their cattle.
“The suspect left the neighbour for dead and he was pronounced dead at the hospital, when he heard the news of the death he ran away,” he said.
Angry villagers who after noticing that the man had fled burnt down his house, slaughtered his three cows and two goats and disappeared with them.
The villagers also destroyed the man’s kitchen and toilet.
The chief also noted that the villagers took away all the chicken the suspect had.
