Learning at Yago Mixed Secondary School in Awendo subcounty was disrupted as learners went on strike wanting their principal Humprey Mbori transfered from the institution.

This came on July 5 as when cooks downed their tools from last Friday complaining of lack of payment and left the institution.

Chanting ‘Mbori must go’ while carrying placards, the students demonstrated in the streets of Awendo town and demanded the principal to be out of the school over mismanagement.

“We are paying school fees and we are not being given food to eat when the principal have been sending us home for fee balance,” Junior Omondi, a form four student said.

But Mbori told Migori News that the institution board had agreed to pay cooks and said there have been a go slow at the kitchen which will be sorted out.

“We had a good talk with the employees and we are going to pay them,” Mbori said.

He denied that he has been sending learners home over school fees arrears, adding that he did not lock his students out of exam rooms.

The school was forced to hire a bus from Komolorume Secondary to ferry the students back to school from Awendo town during the strike.
