Magdak maternity hospital was today (Monday) launched in Rongo town to offer quality health care to expectant mothers.
Officiating at the launching, Central Kamagambo member of the Migori County assembly James Ogweno Maende who represented the Governor, urged both public and private practitioners to ensure quality health care.
He said citizens have been yawning for quality health care forcing some to seek medication outside the nation yet we have qualified personnel who can offer solutions to complicated ailments and improve foreign exchange as neighboring countries will require attention from trained and qualified health care personnel in Kenya.
Mr. Maende at the same time challenged health practitioners to avoid unnecessary competition to ensure quality is offered in existing facilities and save Kenyans from being over taxed while seeking medication outside the nation.
He said Kenya was boasting of glory in quality health care and the lost glory has to be regained if health practitioners will realize the need to avoid competition over acquiring wealth but consider having interest of patients at heart.
Mr. Maende also said the county government is on the process of improving status of health facilities in the region and urged elected leaders to burry differences and urgently tackles challenges facing facilities in the villages.
He said leaders are elected to offer solutions to challenges facing electorates and it is disheartening as elected leaders heaping blames on one another instead of teamwork to ensure issues requiring urgent attention are amicably addressed.
