Migodi police have arrested a man with a consignment of 249 kilograms of bhang worth Kshs2.49 million.

The security officers also impounded a Nissan X Trail KBK 726S in which the narcotic was being ferried to Nairobi.

The arrest happened after the suspect was cornered in Awendo town, county Police Commander Manase Musyoka said.

He told the press that the suspect who was driving alone in the vehicle had earlier on engaged the security officers in a night-chase all the way from Isebania border point before he was finally apprehended at a road-bock in Awendo town.

“We had got a tip off about the contraband stuff being ferried in the vehicle and we trailed him for some times before he became aware of us following him,” said Musyoka.

Both the suspect and the vehicle full of the bhang were taken to Awendo police station where the suspect was booked awaiting arraignment before a Migori court tomorrow.
