Micontrap-Kenya, a NGO based in Migori town, has donated 60 hand washing containers that will help in fighting Covid 19.
The points will be distributed in schools, churches and hospitals among the Kuria and Maasai communities where the organisation have been fighting Female Genital Mutilation and Gender Based Violence.
“The donation will be a way of giving back to the society where we have been working for long and help fight the global pandemic that is Covid 19,” Benter Ombwayo, Micontrap-Kenya Coordinator said.

With schools in partial re-opening and the country likely to face a second wave of Covid 19 infections, the donation have come in handy.
“The second wave will likely be affecting villages more and these points will help the community to fight the virus especially in schools where we have health clubs,” she said.
The institution chair Colleta Bwahi said the organisation has been in the forefront in fighting for gender rights especially among girls in schools through health clubs.
“We have been working across Kuria and in Keiyan division in Trans Mara where we have several girls and boys forming health clubs. We will factor them in distribution,” she said.
The distribution is funded by Forum for Women and Development (Fokus) and Pan-African Women Association in Norway (PAWA-Norway)
