DPP Noordin Haji has said a total of Sh73million was used by Migori governor Okoth Obado and his four children in personal gain.
In a statement on August 25, 2020, Haji said after probing files brought by Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC), he approved police to arrest and prosecute Obado and 11 people, including his four children over the loss of money.
Haji said the governor using proxies and his children obtained through illegal means a total of Sh73 million from companies trading with the county.
“The audit trail of the money revealed that companies wired Sh39 million to the governor’s children accounts which was used to pay school fees, upkeep and medical bills in Australia, Scotland and the UK, ” he said.
The three children who benefitted from the above were Achola Dan Okoth, Susan Scarlet Okoth and Jerry Zachary Okoth.
“Some of the said monies were also traced to have brought two motor vehicles of make, Toyota Land Cruiser V8,” he said.
Further, Haji revealed that Sh34 million was used to purchase a house in Loresho Ridge currently owned by Obado’s daughter Evelyne Adhiambo Zachary.
“I therefore direct that the above suspects be apprehended and arraigned in court to face the charges against them,” Haji said.

I personally studies with evelyne (in fact I’m the one who told her to change her name from everlyne to evelyne when we were deskmate in class seven)at pesoda complex. The father was so mean that they were never given pocket money. I’m just wondering how now they own a house in Loresho which i think i know very well since I stayed there with my family and I’m quite sure she can’t buy that house even though she is a doctor now.
