The vehicle auction organised by Migori county government earlier this month has been covered with greed and scam, with police holding one vehicle at Migori police station.

In blatant insider trading and llegal move at the auction, the highest bidder who had 70,000 for a vehicle was shocked when a second bidder of Sh60,000 went off with a vehicle.

Kuria West police boss Cleti Kimaiyo said the auction of August 3 was marred with irregularities, suspicion and complains.

“When the highest bidder of the vehicle went to pick the vehicle he was shocked that it was taken away by the one who came second and reported the matter at Kehancha police station,” Kimaiyo said.

The suspected sale was among three vehicles at Kehancha Hospital, which has been in the news for all wrong reasons after hospital beds were stolen.

Police said the missing bed were tied to the infamous auction.

He said on investigations, the vehicle was trailed to Migori town from Kehancha area and CID officers took it to Migori police station awaiting investigations.

“We are following how the vehicle ended up to a lower bidder and it is at Migori police station,” he said.

He said most vehicles were valued in very low prices with a motorbike sold off cheaply raising further queries.
